I have at lat unpacked my AIM 4170 and downloaded the latest program ver 650. The unit unit appears to work on scan but I don't have any high powered AM stations close by. When I run calibrate there is a message in the top left hand corner of the screen "Reference signal too low = " followed by a number which has varied between 1 and 8. Help would be appreciated. kind regards Brian Heywood, ZL1IE Tauranga, New Zealand

Hi Brian, I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem with your AIM4170. Be sure to turn on the AIM power before starting the PC program. Make sure the power supply for the AIM is ok when it has a load of 250ma. The min output (including the ripple) should be about 7 volts.
Click on "Help" -> "About". If the AIM is communcating with the PC, it will display the latest software version and the date it was programmed. If it is not communicating, it will say "demo mode" in the dialog box.
