I have uploaded a beta version of the AIM program. This version has some new features and hopefully addresses some of the problems that were in version 876. There is a file called READ_ME.txt that has some information about this beta test. Main Features: 1. Overlay scan files with any limits. The plotting style can be specified. The plots can be done with circles, squares, wide lines, etc to distinguish overlaid files. (Scan files from earlier versions of the AIM program can be recalled and overlaid.) 2. The graph size can be changed by dragging it with the mouse or specifying numeric values in a dialog box. The previous graph size can be restored by clicking "previous graph size". 3. Improved crystal measurements for high Q crystals. 4. New Cal file data format. This allows for new features but new cal files are required for version 880. Click for the new version: AIM_880-73/Bob

Bob,
Version 8.80 seems to have solved the display problem with regards to the "buttons at the bottom. However, I do notice that when it opens it does not open with the last graph that I had open from the previous visit to 8.80. It's blank and I have to go retrieve the file each time I open 8.80. In previous version it would open with the last viewed graph.
When new versions are brought up for the first time I get a message telling me that the "Configuration File" is not loaded. I open the one in the recent download and copy it into the empty configuration file folder. What do you recommend as the best way to do this?
Thanks,
Burt, K6OQK

Burt, I'm not saying this is the best or even the proper way, but what I've been doing is keeping each version in it's own folder. When a new version arrives I make a folder for it and extract all the files. Once that's done I copy the "scan files" "BMP Pics" and "calibration" folders (which I created) from the previous version. In the case of 880 after copying I went in and deleted all the calibration files since they are not compatible with the new version. After getting all the folders set up I'll open the program on the bench and run it through it's paces saving dummy scans, opening calibration and config files and that seems to teach the program where I keep all the files. I don't know if there is an easier way to do it, that's just what I've done over here on the East Coast. Also I may need to note I'm still using XP on my scan computer with no thoughts of downgrading to 7, 8, or even 9 any time soon. I don't know if those versions will totally confuse the file system. PS: yes Burt and I know each other, just have to see if he realizes who I am.. Alan KD4QOF..

Hi Alan,
How's Florida? How's Phil? :> I did not go to the last NAB, I'm NABed out.
I also keep each version in a separate folder and a shortcut on the desktop to each version. Actually, I finally moved all the ICONS into a folder because they were taking up a lot of desktop space. I also keep an "AIM-120 Files" folder that I save all my AIM-120 files in. All of the versions open up or save file in this folder. I'm also using XPpro SP3 on my laptop, or scan computer as you so aptly call it.
My question about the configuration files was... When I get this the first time I use a new version, what's the best source and way to load in a configuration file to where there is none?
Regards,
Burt, K6OQK

Hi Alan, My question about the configuration files was... When I get this the first time I use a new version, what's the best source and way to load in a configuration file to where there is none? I guess the easy way would be to copy the config file from the previous version into the new one. Unless I missed something the format and variables have remained the same. As for the other questions I'll answer in a email.. don't want to hijack the thread..
