Hi Bob, Thanks for a great piece of kit and all upgrades to software. I wonder if you have considered providing a TDR function. All the data is there for a FFT function and a plot of the result. This could be done on the stored traces as it may slow the live scans. I would value your views on this one. Best Regards Mike

Best Regards Mike Hi Mike, I've used a TDR (time domain reflectometer) a lot in my regular work. This is a very interesting piece of equipment. This is easy to implement if you have a wideband oscilloscope. Anyone with a 200MHz scope can make one in a few hours. The commercial units usually have pulse risetimes in the tens of picoseconds range. This is overkill for most work. A one nanosecond risetime pulse is good and that's not so hard to achive. We used to put a 1 nanosecond risetime filter on our HP TDR to intentionally slow down the pulse so it was more realistic for the range we were working in. However, not everyone has a fast scope and it would be nice to make more use of the raw data from the AIM4170. I would like to have something equivalent to that too. If someone wants to send me a link to the nitty-gritty details of how to use the frequency domain data, I'll be glad to consider implementing it. 73/ Bob
