Yesterday, my 4170C seemed to work well as I analyzed a 40M vertical.
Today, when I launched the program I got the following message: “Invalid init. file data, Invalid averaging value read = 68997, should be 1.256.” I checked the init. File, and it is the same as I have always used with no problem. I tried other init. Files, with the same result. What is the problem?
Also, if I continue to use the analyzer and scan from 7.0MHz to 7.5MHz, during the scan I get a message stating: “The reference signal at 7.100MHz is only 7499.699… data may not be accurate beyond this point.” The scan is not the same as yesterday.
I would really appreciate your help in solving these 2 problems. Thanks

Hi Wewill, Somehow the value for averaging got messed up. These two messages are both related to this problem.
Enter a new value for averaging (Setup -> Average reading) and it will be ok. The second message says the value should be between 1 and 256. A value of 1 is the same as 0, that is, no averaging. Typical values are 1x to 16x.
I'll fix the program so this is taken care of automatically in the future.
