Need some help from the masses. I recently changed computers and wanted to get the AIM 4170C up and running for some antenna measurements. All was fine until I began the Standard Calibration step with the short circuit test load. I received a message indicating basically an open load. I change to a 50 ohm load and received the same. The load is connected directly to the AIM 4170c SO239.
Clicking CANCEL provided the following error message:
***DATA FROM CONTROLLER***
4170c version 5.7 date=dec 27 2008 10:28:17 cpuclk=6144 10khz fmax 170 Ddsclk=0 maxbaud115k sync sweep df2khz err=000 @ ID Num=75435352
**** There is no reference signal from the AIM. Cal aborted. ***
Computer runs Windows & (XP on previous computer) Worked perfectly when last used. Haven’t exposed the unit to RF or anything else that should damage box.
Ideas?
Dennis

It may be a driver conflict if you are using a USB to serial convertor, and most likely you are. You may need to get a tested compatible convertor from the good guys here at AIM. Harold K5GVR
