Hi,
I just received my new AIM4770C and I am attempting to get things set-up. I purchased the USB/RS232 adapter offered with the VNA. When I attempt to set up the drivers the Windows wizard doesn't find the needed driver from those provided on the adapter's disk. I also tried the Windows driver from the manufacturer of the USB/RS232 chip and it too doesn't work either.
My Asus web-book computer runs XP and I have used the USB ports to control a K1EL Winkeyer. So I am not sure what is going on in this case. Any ideas appreciated.
Thank you, Thomas - AC7A

Hi Thomas, There are tips for dealing with the usb interface on my FAQ page: www.w5big.com/FAQ.htmXP generally works with a broad range of usb adapters. Win 7 is more particular and it usually requires an adpter with the FTDI chip. Your computer with XP should be ok. If you have the Prolific adapter, there are a lot of drivers on the disk. The one you need is named Y-105. --73/Bob

Hi Bob,
The Y-105 driver did the trick and the VNA works splendidly with my little Asus web-book. Last night, I was using it to accurately set the inductance of some toroids and select capacitors for a 160m high-pass filter that I am constructing. The spot frequency feature is great for this sort of project.
