Does the Measure Cable function require 50ohm cable? I need to tune a stub of RG11 and was interested if that would slew the results!
Thanks Neal K3NC

Thanks Neal K3NC Hi Neal, The AIM4170 can be used to measure the impedance or length of any coax, it is not limited to 50 ohms. The tuning stub function uses the phase angle which corresponds to electrical length, no matter what the impedance. For best accuracy, be sure to check the short circuit that you use for calibration. It should look like this: w5big.com/Short_cal.jpgThis is a recent design improvement. The newer AIMs are shipped with this style of cal load. Note that the black rubber boot on the cal load can be wiggled and pulled off with some force. (it isn't glued on). 73/ Bob
