Hi Jeff,
It's my understanding that the Sync Output can trigger a scope when you do a Scan. I haven't hooked it to my scope yet but intend to do so when I get back from the trip I'm on. I don't know enough about what benefit that would give us, and I bet you probably would know. I'm still in the Beginner stage on AIM.

There is a 3V pulse at the sync output that occurs at the start of the scan. The leading edge can be used to trigger a scope.

Dennis and Bob, Thanks for the info. I was thinking the sync output might work as part of a poor man's analyzer for filter alignment and response testing... What I was thinking of trying was using my AD8307 based power meter output to feed the vertical input of the scope. I'll use it as the detector end and the AIM as the RF sweep generator, and use the sync output to trigger the scope horiz. sweep. I'll place the filter under test between the AIM and the power meter input... Conceptual at this time, but might try lashing it up tomorrow afternoon... Watcha think?
