New features in version 680:Twenty markers can be defined to collect data at specific frequencies. The SWR at each marker frequency is displayed both numerically and graphically with an analog gauge to aid in adjusting multiband antennas. Two Smith charts can be displayed simultaneously with different zoom values. The data on one chart can be rotated by a specified amount (electrical degrees). The manual has been updated. www.w5big.com/prog_update.htm// 73-Bob

All good so far, but can't seem to find "Band Scan".

Thats funny. Band Scan was missing in the menu, then finally the software couldn't find the 4170. I recycled power to the 4170 and restarted the software and the menu looks normal now. Band Scan re-appeared. Calibrate had odd values causing step changes in the graph. Now it works normally. Guess it was just a serial glitch of some kind, probably static electricity caused.

I just received my new Power AIM 120 yesterday. Today I went to hook it up, but the 680 software (included with the unit) recognized it only as an AIM 430, and restricted my maximum frequency to 32 (36?) MHz. Not very useful when I need it next week for the broadcast FM band.
I downloaded ver 670 and 675, and both recognize the hardware correctly.
Did I spy a regression bug?

I'm sorry that version 680 did have a problem with the PowerAIM. That has been fixed. You can get the new version 682 at: www.w5big.com/prog_update.htm73/Bob

Thanks Bob. Came right up.
Is it normal for the program to have trouble recognizing the AIM when using the USB adapter? Only tried on one computer. Worked fine if I told it that AIM was on Port 4, but would not see it during a scan.

The usb adapter is assigned a port by the OS. The AIM can't tell in advance what the port number is. The easiest method is to use "Find Comm Port". Alternatively, you can use the Device Manager to find it.
