Been a while off the board, but originally registered in 2009. started using the famous jewel of 2180 for phasing the various 80m arrays.
i read today that Bob W5BIG, has signed off the board much to my and several others' regrets.
I dont know if there are still old timers (or new timers?....) doing the REAL radio comm, i.e. phasing wire beams for hf communication
CW AND SSB.....
Have done large amount of postings previously on the subject of phasing very large 80m arrays, and still erecting/phasing them.
wonder if anyone has been playing with the S21 port B phase angles and amplitudes measurements; i know filters and such have
been using the 2180 for that.
have been using 4 channel tek scope and current sensors for measurements, to show the phasing results from the L/C components
used.
i read past postings, and "finally (maybe)" realized that i could have used the 2180 all those times to measure the phase angles and
currents from the elements (S21).
i constantly put up new 80m arrays, and have to rephase this workhorse 80m 4 elements inverted vee beam for JA/VK/ZL work.
this mountain top, is generous in monthly ice storms during the winter months. last year was the worst, making the beam wires
over 5 inches in diameter, breaking/bending practically everything. just got done repairing/puttiing all that back up and now
active in re-re-re phasing.
If anyone of you is still interested, you can take a gander at my copious old postings and/or go to QRZ.COM/ VA2GU pages/pix
for information.
IF YOU READ THIS BOB, I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THAT 2180 AND OTHER SUCCESSFULL DESIGNS OF YOUR OWN,
ENHANCING HAM RADIOING.
BE WELL.
